What inspired you to create Meraki?

In my last semester in UofT, I remember that I was buried in essays and assignments and ran from one network session to another. I found comfort in reading about people who \”did it.\” Most of these people have taken their own way, which I think I might call my own. I saw my dad do it, so I knew how incredibly difficult it was to create a own business …

At the same time, I also realized in this process how much North American consumer culture is managed by the main brands, which prevent consumers from expressing themselves in an unconventional way. We live in a cultural mosaic, but at the same time there were no basic options to dress in ways that are consistent with cultural and traditional ways. Getting a chance to get back to your roots and exploring the skills is just icing that cake, and before I knew it, I was deep in the Meraki …

How did it go so far?It went well. We have evolved in different ways, but the most important thing is that we have learned a lot, both good and not-good days!

At what roadblocks do you run?

One of the road graders for us has access to certain customer groups, as trade opportunities have been reserved for brands that work exclusively with local craft. However, with our practice to represent craftsmen from different parts of the world, we do not automatically have the right. This has made us create new opportunities for ourselves ..

So what’s the plan? What’s next to you and Meraki? To overcome this roadblock, we withdrew into some kind of cooperation with Canadian social enterprises, as well as launched our program of the brand ambassador, so that many things are happening!

Tell us about some people or resources in your life who helped with this …

First of all, my father, who has played an important role in helping me navigate everything, especially in more difficult things, such as customs/duties and legal frameworks. Second of all, I was lucky to have some beautiful entrepreneurs who always call whenever I have the most terrible questions …

How do you deal with rejection when it comes to Meraki?

What about essay writing?

Over time, this becomes easier, and because you will learn to take it less personally, but also because as you grow up and earn some authority, deviations are less. However, I feel that the discomfort is crucial for the development of thick skin, which you definitely need in business …

What are the skills to make this dream a reality?

I have discovered that there will always be hardship and problems in anything that makes sense, so the only thing that allows you to overcome these problems is to persist and be brave enough to keep going, even when nothing happens to you. If there is one thing I have learned at the university that helped me through this process, it will remain, even when the process goes …

What kind of advice do you give to a student who wants to follow a similar path?

Two key things to remember, no matter what path you should be:.Make sure you spend so much time on the contingency plan and the alternatives, as in your original plan. You can never predict that you will not follow your path (and sometimes Plan B is better than plan A) ..I have a deadline, but it’s not too much to hang out. Unforeseen changes occur, things are not going according to plan, and clinging to unrealistic timescales can have a detrimental effect on your work, because you will emphasize more time than the quality of work …

Any books or articles that you recommend to other young people/students to test?.

I’m a huge podcast, so I’d recommend it.What do you want to know before you start?Things will go wrong, and it’s all right! We shouldn’t be so strong over each other every time something’s wrong. In addition, do not buy in the highlighting of other peoples. Everyone has a reality. The comparison of your reality with the picture of other peoples of ideal moments will be nothing less than distractions and counter-productive …

What kind of advice would you give to high school seniors who go to post-secondary education? And after a secondary school student, he goes to his career?Be real! I can tell from the personal experience that I have gone through one phase of life in the next phase. If I could do it again, I would have been there for the moment. I would try to do everything in any phase of life, because everything ends up in order …

What’s the best advice you’ve ever had?To remember that we tend to underestimate what we can do in 10 years, because we are too busy reassessing what we can do in one. It happens over time …

How do you make it sound?

From time to time, it was refreshing. On a weekly basis, I usually just end up watching endless TV shows. It doesn’t help that we have a long winter, because any other way to unwind simply can’t win with the constant cold …
